Journalling can be a powerful tool for self-healing, grounding, and self-expression. It is a great way to get your thoughts and feelings in order.

The constant stream of thoughts in our heads can make us feel overwhelmed and confused, but if we can release them by writing them out it can help clear our minds and give us a sense of calm.

Research has suggested that the benefits of journalling include:

  • Improved personal growth
  • Enhanced mood and overall wellbeing
  • Better management of anxiety and stress
  • Increased cognitive functioning
  • Better regulation of emotions
  • Greater emotional processing
  • Enhanced immune system

It's simple to get started, all you need is pen and paper and to set aside some quiet time for yourself, then begin writing about your thoughts and feelings.

  • Try to write each day.
  • If you skip a day or two, just keep writing when you can.
  • Don’t let a few days of skipping discourage you from continuing.
  • Don’t worry about neatness or grammar, the focus is on getting your thoughts and feelings in writing.
  • Try not to censor yourself, just write what comes.
