Over the course of the 6 week summer break the EDAS young people's service in Poole (YADAS) and Dorset (ShADOWS) joined forces to provide an activity day every Wednesday.
Things started well with a beautiful sunny day at Sandbanks Beach, hiring a beach hut, having lovely food, playing games and some crazy golf. Our second week saw young people and staff alike bowling and go-carting in Weymouth in slightly less than perfect conditions. Week 3 involved a trip to Avon Tyrell in the New Forest to take on archery and raft-building. Week 4 was another beach day but this time in Kimmeridge Bay where Sumo Wrestling stole the show. Week 5 was water sports on Poole Park Lake followed up by a Chinese meal. Finally, week 6 and African drumming and games with pancakes in Blandford.
Overall a great variety of things to do and a chance for young people to see some of the diversity that Dorset has to offer as a place to live, work and play. Will we do it again? Well, you will have to wait and see!
